Project Management – A Way of Life
Project Management is a way of life it not only applies to theory in a corporate setting but can be used for everyday life management as well. Since I am a Project Manager by trade and have adopted this methodology because it so closely aligns with the word of GOD it’s a good article I’d like to share with others hoping it will benefit them. Especially for families with multiple activities and separate goals in action, a project plan implemented successfully is a great way to ensure all elements of the project is monitored and controlled to measure accomplishment or deviation. Project Management by definition is using tools, techniques, skills abilities and plans to meet project objectives. Everything and everyone affected by your life should be considered when you’re making project decision. First and foremost your immediate family, spiritual and work goals should be placed into a plan which most call goal setting.
Many questions could be asked to start your project plan such as: What exactly is being achieved? What projects are useful to begin now or in the future? How do I measure success? How much time and money do I allocate to these goals?
Project Management as a standard in a corporate sense usually follows the PMBOK which is the BIBLE for how the methodology should be implemented. Common confusion relating to project management is to manage operations which is ongoing procedures being managed by individuals. This is a misconception and not the appropriate place to implement project management practices. Notice in what the PMBOK theory categorizes as operations which is ongoing services, processes and actions to live life. Projects are the temporary endeavors encountered to enhance operations or correct failures within our lives. Getting into the technical specifics regarding project management is a great start to understanding how applying formal project management to endeavors in daily life can foster success and pave a clear path to understand the direction headed and avoid unnecessary pitfalls. Also it presents clarity so that ideals or discoveries that align with the direction can be explored vividly.
Project Management is not just a corporate art and science like the dictionary portrays. It’s a good methodology to getting life’s projects accomplished. In a series of articles we will answer several questions that can give a clear understanding of how thinking in terms of project management can be the stepping stone to a well thought out way to accomplish life’s goals considering all factors. The following questions will be answered: What is life? What is a life cycle? What is a project? What is project management? How does project management apply to setting goals in ones life?
